How to Hide a Column in Google Sheets


Have some "work in progress" columns you want to hide or need to bring two columns closer together temporarily? The Hide feature in Google Sheets will do the trick for you.

To hide any columns on your spreadsheet, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Select the columns you want to hide
  2. Right-click and select "Hide columns"

Make sure to select the entire column and not just the cells within it. You can select the entire column by clicking on the Column Letter

Common Use Cases


  • Removing "raw" data from the view without deleting it
  • Emphasizing the focus on specific data points without removing the other columns
  • Bringing two columns closer together to make comparing them easier
